1920s Silk Painted Chinese Parasol
Item Description: This is a superb example of an antique silk parasol. Made circa 1920 and sourced in Scotland and probably of Chinese origin. Made of hand painted green/yellow silk with a tasselled finish. The painting seems to tell a story possibly of royalty. There is a hunting scene which seems to involve a young prince, his father, elephants, a hunter, wolves and a palace. The handle is an ornate white metal that tests as silver. It has an elaborate decoration featuring peacocks. There is a ring at one end. The top is leather scrim covered.
Condition: There are no marks and the parasol is in unusually good condition. The parasol hasn't been fully opened as it is rather stiff and may tear.
Size: 75cm length and 80cm open diameter.
